DESTINY BETA NOW OPEN TO ALL

From IGN:

The Destiny beta is now open to all PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners, Bungie has announced.

In the announcement, Bungie says that the open beta starts at 4 PM PDT. You’ll need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to play online, naturally. Download advertisements will appear directly on the console once it rolls out.

"We have watched your adventures with great interest, and listened to your feedback. Your missions have provided us with volumes of discoveries we can use to prepare for the launch of Destiny in September,” the announcement states. “Our work is not done. There is more we can learn. To make this happen, we need more Guardians to play. This is, above all else, a test.”

The beta arrived for PlayStation 4 pre-orders first, then expanded to Xbox One this week. It seems to have generated plenty of interest, seeing as supply of the $150 “Ghost Edition” was running so short that retailers have been forced to cancel preorders. Activision released a statement about it today, saying the company and Bungie intended it to be “truly limited.”

Comic-Con 2014: Halo Nightfall Directly Leads Into Halo 5 Guardians

From Ganespot:

At the Halo: Nightfall panel today at San Diego Comic-Con, we got a first look at the Ridley Scott-directed film project. Whereas Forward Unto Dawn looked at Halo's past, Nightfall will focus on the “present,” in terms of game chronology, and lead directly into the events of Halo 5: Guardians.

The Nightfall character Locke, who was revealed to be played by Mike Colter earlier this week, will play a major role in Halo 5: Guardians. During the Q&A, the actor for Locke—who will be playable in Halo 5—said he “can’t confirm whether he’s a friend or foe of Master Chief.” Frank O’Connor, Halo’s franchise development director, says Nightfall will work as an origin story for the character. “You will see some new Spartan armor on Locke in Halo 5,” he adds.

The show won’t include the Pelican vehicle seen in the games, but the panelists did talk about a new vehicle known as the Condor, a mid-range transport that’ll be a major part of the action. O’Connor says they originally referred to it as a “Super Pelican.”

Talking about the game’s world, O’Connor said, “Earth has been through a lot, but the colony worlds are a bit of mixed-bag.” He then brought up the problems experienced on the planet Reach, but the colony inNightfall is a “scrappy group trying to make it work.”

Nightfall will also link back to the first Halo. O’Connor said that the story is set on a “partially functioning fragment of the original Halo ring,” which has crashed onto the colony planet.

We’ll hear more details about the film project during this year’s Gamescom in August, when the team promises we’ll learn about some of interactive features the team wants to incorporate into the project.

The linking up of everything sounds rather awesome and I cannot wait for this.

Halo 4 did not do it for me, while also having some great features, so with Halo Nightfall, Guardians and The Masterchief Collection. I am ready to fall in love al over again.

September 14th, 2020 is what I am desperately waiting for as I want some Reach Anniversary action!

Operation Pitchfork: The retaking of Orion

This is a player created initiative to effect the universe when Star Citizen goes live.

It has been given the nod by Chris Roberts himself. The idea is to retake the recently lost system of Orion from the Vanduul and give the Human UEE some breathing room.

It has gained a lot of momentum in the player base and I am loving some of the art and stories leading up to it.

Hellenic Greek hoplites, field commander and staff and cretan archers. This is for a fields of glory army. I like painting 15mm, and since there are so many, it looks awsome.

Those look great!
What system are you using DBx or FoG?
-CousinBorris

I’m Reading up on FoG at the moment. I don’t have a large enough army to actually field and nobody plays it at the club haha. but i’ll eventually build up two small armies and try to get others into it. i’m thinking of Galatians, or Egyptian… (im not focused on historical recreation or accuracy). otherwise i’m just loving the 15mm ancient models.
my next purchase will be some thuriophorei (sp?).  ^^
~Warchirf~

FoG is a nice system. I have a War of the Roses Yorkist and Alp Arslan Seljuk Turks.
You’ve got enough for DBA which is an awesome little system.
I love how you have painted them all up much better than what I have pulled off.

New Horus Heresy Anthology: Death and Defiance £15

Available: At Warhammer Fest or Oder Here October 13th

image

Death and Defiance will be available for the first time at Warhammer Fest, months before it will be available in stores, at the Coventry Ricoh Arena on the 11th and 12th of October. Order your ticket for the event from the Games Workshop Website.

This anthology will also be available to order from blacklibrary.com the Monday after Warhammer Fest. Set your reminder today, and we’ll drop you an email the day it goes on sale.

READ IT BECAUSE:

This anthology contains five exclusive stories from across the battlefields of the Horus Heresy. Each tale ties into one of the major arcs of the series so far: we follow a splinter of the scattered Night Lords Legion towards Ultramar, join a pack of Space Wolves despatched on a mission from the Wolf Lord, and gain a glimpse into the inner motivations of an assassin tasked with the elimination of one of the traitor Primarchs.

THE STORY:

Words alone can no longer convey the horrors of the war that now grips the Imperium. In what should have been an age of enlightenment and glorious triumph, instead warriors from both sides reel from the twin agonies of betrayal and bloodshed; those still fighting on the front lines, and those long forgotten by those they might once have called brother.
